In the hurly-burly of program or project delivery, it's often difficult for Executive Sponsors to make an objective assessment of how the program/project is really doing against timeline and budget.

How often, for example, have you seen a program/project that is 'Green' all the way to the '90% complete' mark, then suddenly switches to 'Red'? When that happens, how often does the program/project timeline then extend significantly, delaying the benefits, increasing the cost, and embarrassing the Sponsors?

If you've had that experience yourself, would it be helpful to receive an objective, external assessment from a seasoned delivery executive much earlier in the delivery cycle?

If so, check out our Program or Project Healthcheck, by an executive who has managed and overseen multiple program and project deliveries, of varying sizes, over a successful 30 year career.

The 7 point health-check, carried out on-site over two weeks, reviews:

  • The program/project specification/charter;
  • The governance mechanisms in place;
  • The capabilities of key program/project management personnel;
  • Progress and Steering reports to date;
  • The assessment and management of risks and issues raised to date;
  • Stakeholder comfort levels; and
  • The forward plans.

The deliverable will contain three elements:

  • A Red/Amber/Green assessment of each dimension of the program/project;
  • A narrative explaining the reasons for the Red/Amber/Green; and
  • For dimensions scored Amber or Red, recommendations for improvement.

Having completed the Program or Project Healthcheck, you will have:

  • A clear, objective view of how the program or project is really doing; and;
  • A recipe for bringing any areas of weakness back on track.

When delivering a program or project, it's all too easy to focus on the new technology and the associated processes – and forget to pay equivalent attention to the Change Management.

How often have you rolled out new processes or operating models, but found that users aren’t ready for the changes? How often have you seen fabulous new technology delivered, yet not seen the benefits you expect?

These are usually the result of poor Change Management. Without users and management being ready, willing and able to implement the changes, it’s unlikely that you’ll see the value anticipated – and certainly not when you expected it.

If you've had that experience yourself, would it be helpful to receive an objective, external assessment of your Change Management readiness, by a seasoned delivery executive, much earlier in the delivery cycle?
